Containing an alphabetical enumeration of all the boroughs and market towns, parishes and villages in the county; the situation, bearings and distance, extent and population, government, produce, manufactures, amusements and customs of the chief places; with notices of the most remarkable buildings, public or private, religious and charitable institutions, antiquities and curiosities, both in the main peninsula and its neigbouring islands, particularly those of Scilly; correct information respecting the pairs and markets, and other subjects of general utility. To which is prefixed, a survey of the county; exhibiting clear and comprehensive view of its boundaries, extent, general appearance, division, population, civil and ecclesiastical government, language, manners, state of society, climate, productions, (especially those resulting from its mines and fisheries) trade, commerce and other subjects interesting either to the man of business or pleasure, whether stranger or inhabitant. The whole being carefully compiled from a variety of authentic documents, and corrected and expanded by local knowledge, and the communications of well informed correspondents
